The Chi Phi Fraternity, as it
exists today, is the outgrowth of three older organizations, each of which
bore the name of Chi Phi. These organizations were the Chi Phi Society,
founded at the College of New Jersey (Princeton); the Chi Phi Fraternity,
established at the University of North Carolina; and the Secret Order of Chi
Phi, founded at Hobart College.
Four men had a dream to bring a
national fraternity to the University of the Incarnate Word. This dream was
realized on April 16, 2002 at 8 pm in the Marian Hall Ballroom. These four
men, Adam Longer, Marco Munoz, Kevin Barnes, and Eric Martinez were pinned
as the Alpha Class of the University of the Incarnate Word Colony of The Chi
Phi Fraternity.
The UIW Colony
of the Chi Phi Fraternity received it’s Charter on April 1, 2007, becoming
the Mu Theta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity. That same night the Mu
Theta Alumni Association started to come into existence.
